Teaching Assistant for Dr. Meagan Schipanski in the course SOCR100 (General Crops). Wahid prepares and teach labs sessions (3 times a week), coordinate the field and the greenhouse visits, prepare and grade quizzes and tests, and help and evaluate students’ presentations.

 

Summer 2012 and 2014

 

Teaching Assistant for Dr. Patrick Byrne in a summer course “breeding for drought tolerance”. Wahid assisted with greenhouse and field demonstrations and set up an experiment for them to learn how to use multiple instruments.

 

Spring 2013

 

Mentoring a senior undergraduate student from the soil and crop sciences department (Henok Adera). Wahid helped him design his graduation project, write a report about and present his research.

  • Introduction to crop science -The course covered a wide range of subjects such as plant classification, taxonomy, botany, machinery, and principles of plant breeding and genetics.

  • Production of field crops -The course covered subjects such as fertilization, irrigation, crop management, pest and disease control, and cropping systems.

 

Spring 2008

 

Teaching Assistant for the course New technologies in plant breeding.

The course was on the use of molecular markers, GMO, and the tissue culture techniques in plant breeding.
